Nike's Licensing Deal with the NBA

Updated: Aug 28, 2020

Nike's Licensing Deal with the NBA

Nike became the official NBA partner for team merchandise which basically means jerseys, warmups, tees, and shorts. The deal started in the 17/18 season and runs 8 years worth roughly $1 Billion dollars. This is a 245% increase from the previous deal held by Adidas for 10 years. Nike and the NBA seem like a natural fit thus far. They have allotted up to 5 jerseys for each team so there's a wide variety of colors/styles for consumers to choose from. The Swingman jerseys are the basic replica model and those are priced lower then the Authentic on court models. Unlike the previous deals with Reebok and Adidas, Nike's logo will appear on NBA game jerseys. This is the is first time this has happened. Thus far the the overall public reception to Nike's quality of jerseys has been good.
